O-Z/Gedney FIRE-SEAL® Poke-Thru’s Block Spread of Fire & Smoke In Multi-Story Buildings

March 7, 2005

FIRE-SEAL® Poke-Thru’s from O-Z/Gedney prevent fire and smoke from traveling through floor openings used for power and telephone wiring, securing the life-safety of building occupants and minimizing the costly effects of damage to properties. These simple-to-install devices mount into the 1-3/8 inch holes regularly drilled into metal decks or reinforced concrete slabs to route cable and wire. Upon installation, the high-temperature Pyrolastic™ seal expands against the opening to effectively block the movement of smoke and fire from floor to floor. The patented FIRE-SEAL Poke-Thru design is exceptionally versatile. Poke-Thru’s can be used to secure all “off-the-shelf” service heads to the floor without requiring additional masonry anchors. In addition, they come equipped with a stainless steel clamp that grips flexible metal conduit and BX cable, plus feature a split in the seal grommet to safely accommodate communication cable. O-Z/Gedney also offers a FIRE-SEAL Poke-Thru with a built-in conduit hub for 3/4-inch threaded rigid conduit or IMC. O-Z/Gedney FIRE-SEAL Poke-Thru’s are UL Listed, CSA Certified and meet Article 300-21 of the National Electric Code. A separate abandonment unit is available to seal off the hole if the Poke-Thru is removed.
